Red for Blood

Decorative Image

Red can be associated with danger and I’m assuming there is danger if you enter where it says do not enter. The red is also highly visible, drawing attention to it, much like a stop sign. And even if you are colorblind the contrast between the red and white should still make the sign readable.

Bigger is Better

The Richard Jonhston Inn portion of the design is bigger than the Bed and Breakfast section. This is a use of proportions, marking the first bit as more important. This is probably because people looking for the inn will be paying more attention to finding Richard Jonhston Inn.

I also really like the pineapple, even if I have no clue why it’s there. I tried to figure out if there was any meaning to it, but my searches came up with nothing.

Less is more

This sign isn’t overly complicated and makes use of minimalism. This also serves to advertise the business since minimalism is probably important when designing the layout of an office.

Perfectly Aligned

The sign is vertically symmetrical. To me, at least, it makes this sign more pleasing to look at. I like it when things are symmetrical.

Yes, it’s this one, and not for any technical reason. The pineapple endeared me to this sign to me.

You have done an amazing job on this assignment! I really like your presentation and your website is designed very well! Taking a guess about the pineapple but Hawaii was made a US state in the late 50’s and Pineapples had a moment in pop culture as a result. When was the Inn founded?

From a quick online search, it looks like the inn was built in 1770, not sure when it became an inn though. Cool information about pineapples though
